League of Legends has done what I already knew they would do for a long while — in the latest patch 26.3, they’ve made Aram Mayhem permanent. A mode that, in my opinion, made League so much fun. You can bet that I’ve spent all my free time playing and testing it out. Which sounds unhealthy but let me assure you that I’ve got it under control. You must believe me, I do.

Since the patch, I’ve been trying to keep an open mind and test different characters with different builds and augments. It’s been a fun and difficult journey, especially in the last few days where my matchups were unfavorable.
And by that I don’t mean fighting against more experienced players, but rather getting sabotaged by my own teammates. Take my last 10 matches, for example — I had someone go AFK 3 times in a row.
Then in the 4th one, I had someone who was just standing next to a tower saying “Leave me alone, I’m eating pizza”. They were moving just enough to not get penalized but zero involvement in the match.
Why even bother entering the game if you’re not going to play. I’m genuinely asking. Why? If it’s just for the purpose of trolling or ragebaiting, then I feel sorry for them. How bad can their life be? Does this sort of BS happen only to me or is it more common than I’m aware? Has it happened to you?
Anyways, as I was saying before I started venting, I tested stuff and I’m ready to talk about my experience so far.
Let’s start with my personal favorite this week — my boy Kennen. I had an absolute blast playing with him. On my first match with him, I was blessed to receive the “Devil on Your Shoulder” augment which allowed me to get bonus true damage against champions and create healing remnants in exchange for draining my life over time.
If that wasn’t wild enough, I even got “Quest: Wooglet’s Witchcap”. And on top of that I got “Giant Slayer” an augment that makes me smaller, faster and I do more damage based on how larger the enemy is than me. You can already imagine the damage I was doing. I was as fast as the Flash and there wasn’t any escaping my super powerful lighting.
My plan was to wait for my ult, run into enemies, press R, activate Zhonya’s and watch them perish. It worked every time. It was singularly the most fun I ever had in Aram Mayhem. 10/10 I would recommend doing it.
The next one that I had the honor of playing with was Talon. Each time I played him, it got better and better. He is a pure nightmare for ADCs. I mean they are gone in an instant. I was fortunate enough to get Infinite Recursion (Gain 60 Ability Haste, plus 3 Ability Haste per takedown) paired with the Executioner augment most of the matchups. I feel if it was me vs 5 ADC, I would come out victorious every single time.
With Xin Zhao and Swain I managed to win some of those matches where my teammates were afk or eating. Swain especially feels broken with the right augments, a practically unkillable machine.
I also played with Kai’Sa and Twitch and they’re absolutely broken to play with while MF and Varus seemed to lack something. Or I just got outplayed. Which seems most likely.
Conclusion
League of Legends Aram Mayhem is so much fun to play but I’ve only managed to test a portion of champions and augments. I guess I have no choice but to continue trying out different builds until I try them all. Stay tuned for more. If you’ve played it too, I’d love to hear how your experience compares.
