Helldivers II Is Finally Coming to Xbox — And It’s Kind of a Big Deal

Xbox players, the wait is over. Helldivers II, the chaotic, team-killing-optional co-op shooter that had PS5 and PC players obsessed, is finally landing on Xbox Series X|S this summer. Suit up for August 26, 2025, because that’s when you can join the galaxy-wide bug-blasting party.

And yes — cross-play is in from day one. That means you can drop in with your PS5 and PC buddies right out of the gate, turning every mission into a glorious mess of friendly fire and last-second extractions.

Pre-orders are already live on the Xbox Store, with the Standard Edition going for $39.99 and the “Super Citizen” Edition at $59.99, which comes with extra armor set, cape, weapon, and other goodies. No Game Pass here, though — this one’s a standalone buy, and there’s no cross-progression either, so if you’ve already been grinding on PlayStation or PC, you’ll be starting fresh.

But the release itself is more than just “another platform gets the game.” This is the first time Sony has actively published one of its own games on Xbox without being dragged into it by contracts or licensing deals. It’s a small but noticeable crack in the exclusivity wall, and it has the industry talking. Even Arrowhead’s CEO said you can thank Sony for making the Xbox version happen — apparently, the push came from their side.

“It was all PlayStation. Send them your thanks! We were all in support of course.”

Oh, and because Helldivers II can’t just quietly launch, there’s also a teaser that has fans buzzing about a possible Halo crossover. A little ODST soundtrack tease dropped in the marketing, and now everyone’s wondering if Master Chief is about to hand out democracy one bullet at a time.

Bottom line? Whether you’re here for the galaxy-wide war, the memes, or just to see a Sony-published title sitting pretty on an Xbox dashboard, August 26 is going to be a date worth circling.

What’s your opinion on this? Do you think this should have happened sooner? Do you think we should expect more PS games on Xbox?
