Best PS4 Games That Still Hold Up in 2025

The PlayStation 4 might not be Sony’s newest console anymore, but let’s be honest — some of its games are still absolute must-plays in 2025. Whether you’re diving back into your library or just picking up a PS4 for cheap, there are titles here that haven’t aged a bit. From cinematic adventures to fast-paced action, these games prove the PS4 still has plenty left to offer.

 

Ghost of Tsushima

You might already know this — Ghost of Tsushima is one of my favorite games ever and nothing will change that. 

If you were to compare it to any newly released games, Ghost of Tsushima beats 95% of them. It has an amazing story, great gameplay, and from a graphical standpoint is a masterpiece.

God of War

Another game on the list that is for the books. From the announcement to the release to playing the game, everything was on point. 

I really enjoyed every part of the game. I got really invested in the story and explored every inch of the game. The graphics still hold up to this day — it’s filled with colors that just burst off the screen and keep you wowed at all times. 

The animations are amazing and perfectly polished to the line that you have no choice but get immersed into the gameplay. When it comes to the cutscenes and voice acting they are on another level, some might even say it’s on Hollywood quality level. All of the rewards and praises it received are rightfully earned. 

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales

As someone who played all of the Spider-Man related games I feel like I’m qualified to talk about this. 

I think Marvel’s Spider-man was/is a great game but with Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales they did so many improvements that I had no choice but to enjoy it more. The combat feels more realistic and smoother, puzzles are more enjoyable, and the story is more straightforward. The only bad thing that can be said is that the game might be too short.

Horizon Zero Dawn

With Forbidden West out, you’d think Horizon Zero Dawn would feel dated — but it doesn’t. Aloy’s first adventure still delivers jaw-dropping environments and some of the most unique combat on the PS4. Fighting robotic dinosaurs hasn’t gotten old, and the story still pulls you in. It’s one of those games that reminds you why the PS4 was such a powerhouse.

Bloodborne

If there’s one PS4 exclusive that hasn’t aged a day, it’s Bloodborne. Dark, brutal, and endlessly replayable, this FromSoftware masterpiece still dominates conversations in 2025. The gothic setting is as eerie as ever, and the combat hasn’t lost its intensity. If you’re into challenging action RPGs that reward patience and skill, Bloodborne should still be near the top of your list.

The perfect mix of great gameplay, cool fun weapons, amazing environment, incredible soundtrack, dark mysterious story, really great boss fights is what makes this game stand out more than others. It might be harder than most of the games you play but in the end that’s what makes it the most rewarding.

Best DLCs and Expansions for PS4 Games

The story doesn’t always end when the credits roll. Many of the PS4’s greatest games have received DLCs and expansions that offer new challenges, areas to explore, and deeper narratives, ensuring that players return to their favorite worlds long after the original release. 

1. Ghost of Tsushima: Iki Island Expansion: The Iki Island expansion for Ghost of Tsushima adds a whole new area to explore, complete with its own story, side missions, and new gameplay mechanics. This expansion delves into Jin Sakai’s past and introduces new combat techniques, including a more personal and emotional journey.
2. God of War: New Game+: While God of War didn’t initially have a DLC in the traditional sense, its New Game+ mode released after the game’s launch extended its longevity. The story expansion introduces fresh challenges and a new area with beautifully harsh landscapes, perfect for players who wanted more of the open-world adventure.
